An individual who contaminated treats with tranquilliser and gave them to minors at a summer camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys both nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
The accused was kept in jail prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She stated the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel explained items including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were located, and his stepchild contacted the police about his concerns.
She stated the man continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that time - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the police again.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
