Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
